Yes, due to the CKP getting its signal from the flywheel, and also the backlash associated with a faulty DMF transferring through to the front of the engine ie drive belts, I'd say it was causing most, of not all of your concerns. N. njos Discussion starter. Hi guys I need some help with my 1.8 TDCi The car starts pretty well most of the time and goes well too. The problem is that when I start it to move it a short distance and then stop it , the next time I want to start it it will not start without a lot of messing about , it takes about ten attemp I have got an intermittent starting problem with my car. Sometimes when I turn the key the solenoid will engage on the starter but the engine doesn't turn over. Usually when this happens it doesn't matter how many times I turn the key the car won't start, however sometimes after 10 or so attempts 1tW7.
